On the Justice of Commencement Speakers
Good old Antioch.
Those of you who are politically aware have probably heard about Ward Churchill. He's the University of Colorado professor who called the technocrats of the World Trade Center "little Eichmanns," a phrase for which he's taking a lot of flak now, uh, three and a half years later.
It was interesting, I thought, that he was taking the heat while Ann "invade all Muslim countries kill their leaders and convert the rest to Christianity" Coulter remains a media darling. But I wasn't too interested until I got an e-mail from Antioch saying that due to the controversy, they have canceled Churchill as the graduation speaker.
Oh yeah! He had been our scheduled speaker. I forgot.
Naturally, this has created a controversy. I mean, we once happily scheduled a convicted cop-killer as the speaker. Someone who compares Americans to Nazis should have fit right in. Add in the fact that he's a Native American, and this graduation should top the last two for drama!
